When you hear the word ‘Marriage’ what is the first thing that strikes your mind? Good Food? Good Clothes? A pretext or a reason to meet up with relatives and friends! Unfortunately, that is what it has come to these days! Marriage is an event in an Individual’s Life where he/she has found someone who can be there companion for Life! The event is to mark the happiness, celebration and share the joy with near and dear ones!
Next thing that probably comes to mind is failure, extra responsibilities, examples of failed relationships and the compromises that we have done ourselves. Then finally, few examples of successful couples and feeling of nostalgia linger for a while.
Marriage is an Institution by itself. Probably because when two individuals get married, they not only swear to be together for Life, as part of the process, their families, friends, and their entire existence starts to co-exist. This merger, most times is favourable and pleasant to both the individuals getting married and to the parties involved along. Of course there is a lot of planning and speculation that goes into before finalising this ‘Merger’.
Most of the times, it is the individuals who weigh out the options and decide if they would want to live together for Life! Then the proposal is put forth to family, friends and well-wishers and after convincing the entire ‘board’, the merger is finalised. In case of arranged marriages, the board proposes the Union first and then is finalised by the individuals entering into the wed lock.
There is no specific fool proof formula present to ensure this merger is always successful as feelings and emotions are involved with constant changes and influences from changing times and situations. However, the ownership of making this Institution work falls upon the Individuals when it is their choice and somehow a better choice than someone else making the choice for them. Having said that, even arranged marriages have their way of working for the best as the Individuals are in a predetermined alliance where not much changes or compromises need to be made, thus increasing the chances of the Merger to be successful.
Love Marriage or an Arranged Marriage, the ingredient needed to make them work is Love! As long as the involved Individuals are in Love, the marriage will always be a success. Changing values, temptations, society and its influences are just some of the challenges that an Individual need to cope and work with to ensure make his/her Marriage work.
